ARI ISAAC - PIANO VOICING DETAIL

Your piano needs to be tuned at least once a year, twice is better.  A piano will, typically, stay in tune for a period of about three months; after which time it will gradually become out of tune.

The more constant the ambient atmospheric moisture content - about 45% - the longer the piano will stay in tune.  Tuning will clean up the musical scale on your piano but tuning alone, will never bring out the best sound (tone) your piano was built to produce.

The sounding board and strings in your piano are intact.  It is the hammers, hitting the strings, that determine the tone quality of your piano.  The hammers impact on the strings at the same spot every time the notes are played.  The felt which hits the strings becomes increasingly compacted and will, if not voiced correctly, begin to produce a harsh, unchanging, strident tone instead of a tone that is lyrical, mellow and lush  or bright and strident (depending on how you want it to sound).

When I voice your piano you will be able to produce the tone quality you want simply by varying your touch.  I will give the hammers the exact level of resilience needed to produce the widest range of tone colours along with the widest dynamic range.

You won't believe how musical your playing sounds until
you have me
voice your piano!
